Dolores Keane was born in 1953 in Sylane, a small Galway town where her aunts held weekend music sessions that shaped her young life. She recorded for Radio Eireann at five, won medals at Feis Ceoil at six, and later co-founded De Dannan before leaving in 1976 to pursue solo work. Her voice carried West of Ireland tradition into international rooms, then returned home in the early 1980s, where she lived until her death in Caherlistrane in 2026.
