This impressive tomb is located behind a field boundary in pasture at the foot of Carrickgollogan with views onto Sugarloaf Mountain. It comprises a rectangular chamber (int L 3.6m; Wth 1.4m; max. H 1.5m) which faces NE and is formed by four regular granite slabs set on their narrow axis. A large capstone (L 2.3m) covers the NE end of the chamber. It tilts towards the S as it is resting on the two larger front slabs, which vary in height. A tree stump blocks the rear of the chamber. (Borlase 1897, 2, 392; Healy 1975, 1-19; Turner 1983, 10). Portal dolmen; dates to the Neolithic period (c. 4000–2500 BCE). It represents an early form of megalithic tomb construction and is significant as a rare surviving example of this type in the region.
