Dog Hillocks is a sea cliff composed mainly of Old Red Sandstone, formed during the Devonian period around 400 to 360 million years ago. The cliff is notable for its resistant sandstone layers that have withstood coastal erosion, contributing to the distinctive topography of the Angus coastline.
