Cross

Wayside cross listed by Crawford (1928, 62) as cross No. 15, the current location of this cross is unknown (Bradley et. al. 1985, 94). Listed by bradley (1985, 94) as Fore 3. This cross was drawn by George Du Noyer in the 19th century and described in 1928 by Crawford as 'The head of a small plain cross with solid ring; 1ft. 9in. (0.52m) across the arms and 5in. (0.12m) thick. It was formerly in the graveyard (WM008-097014-) at St. Mary's Church (WM008-097002-); and is now preserved in St. Fechin's Church (WM008-035003-)' (Crawford 1928, 62, no. 15). It was recorded in 1976 that the cross inside St. Fechin's Church (WM008-035003-) 'is no longer to be seen amongst the stones preserved in the chancel of that church' (SMR file). It has been suggested that this cross was originally located in the townland of Clonageeragh where the base (WM004-010----) of the cross still survives (SMR file).
