Man-made underground passage in Fore

A Man-made underground passage was discovered in 1962 about 60m south-east of St. Feichin's church (WM004-035003-). It was found during the construction of a hayshed and was considerably damaged before investigation. It consisted of a short passage 6m long, 1.3 m wide and 1.25m high. It ran in a north-south direction with the entrance at the north end. The Man-made underground passage curved eastwards towards the south but its full length was not determined because of collapse. It was built of poor quality drystone walling, slightly corbelled and roofed with transverse lintels about 0.45m wide and 0.3m thick (Bradley et. al. 1985, 80; Rynne 1964).
