Cross, Wayside cross

What is recorded here

On the E bank of a N-S stream and just N of an E-W road. A fragment of a sandstone cross-shaft (dims 0.19m x 0.16m; H 1m) with a tennon at the lower end has a fragmentary inscription with the date 1689. Also part of the polygonal head of a cross (dims 0.7m x 0.7m; T 0.16m) with an inscription which is illegible, apart from the date 1674.
