Cross-slab in Inchbofin

Three fragments possibly of the same cross-slab were recorded by Robert Cochrane for the OPW in 1912 and listed as slabs G and H in Appendix E to the 81st Report of the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland 1912-13 (Anon 1913, 48). Only two of these fragments were catalogued by Crawford in 1913 as slab (h) and described as ‘two fragments 1 ft. 2 in. [0.35m] by 1 ft. [0.3m] and 5 in.[0.12m] by 4 in. [0.1m], showing portions of a three-line cross with expanded ends containing frets, but without loops’ (Crawford 1913, 329). Cross-reference with GA084-151036- as the slab has now been moved to the OPW Depot in Athenry, Co. Galway. See attached 1912 OPW drawing of cross-slab H (Anon. 1913, 47).
