Cross-slab in Illaunmore (leitrim By.)

Cross-slab

What is recorded here

Clear water still moves around Illaunmore, but the chamber has disappeared. The surviving slab carries a cross cut to its own edges, ready to be seen in more than one direction. It is a small stone, yet it preserves the shape of a place that no longer answers.
This record is for the original location of a small irregularly shaped stone with an incised simple cross continuing right to the edges found within the church (CL021a005001-) on Illaunmore Island. See CL033-189---- for the present location record and details. Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 28 October 2014

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
