Cross-slab in Illaunmore (leitrim By.)

Mortons cross stands on the edge of a high field where the land leans toward the sea. Its red stone, bright chamber and uncovered chamber bowl remain visible because the field has stayed open and the story has stayed present. The chamber holds a small white marker and a wooden base, while the main chamber waits beneath the grass. A road passes nearby, but the cross still stands apart, marked on the open field and known locally as Mortons cross.
