Probably dating to the early medieval period (5th–11th century), the cross-slab may have marked a Christian burial site or served as a waymarker along a pilgrimage route. Such stones often carried religious significance and were associated with early monastic or ecclesiastical activity in the area.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
