Cross-slab in Castletown (morgallion By.)

A cross-slab (dims 0.41m x 0.16m; H 0.98m) with an incised latin cross inside a moulded frame occupying the whole E face is in the graveyard (ME012-016001-) W of the church. Likely dating to the early medieval period (7th–12th century), the cross-slab may have served a Christian funerary or commemorative function. The Latin cross and decorative elements suggest a ecclesiastical or ritual significance, possibly linked to the nearby church and its historical use.
