What is recorded here

Half a metre of lichen-smothered stone stands beside the farm buildings on Bear Island, a weathered Latin cross carved into its north-west face. Twenty metres away lie the remains of a rath and a children's burial ground, suggesting the marker guarded a threshold between the living and the dead. The cross still points across Berehaven Harbour, waiting for someone to remember what it marked.

In pasture, beside farm buildings on Bear Island with views N over Berehaven Harbour and Castletownbere. On the NW face of an upright lichen-covered stone (H 0.45m; Wth 0.2m; T 0.1m) is a weathered Latin cross (H 0.28m; Wth 0.18m ).
