Cross in Kilmalum

Kilmalum holds a broken granite cross beside an abandoned graveyard, perhaps marking Early Christian burial grounds before the land forgot its own name. The shaft still stands about a metre tall with one arm lost, suggesting violence, decay or simple human neglect rather than divine mystery. People may have prayed there, buried their dead there and then departed, leaving the cross to weather alone. What remains is not grand, but it is honest: a small stone witness to lives that no longer remember being lived.
