Monument erected by the Robinson Family to the memory of the "croppies" (Irish Rebels) who died during the nearby battle of Clonard in the 1798 United Irishmen Rebellion
The Battle of Clonard in 1798 was fought between Irish rebels of the United Irishmen and British government forces. The rebels were defeated, but the battle marked significant resistance against British rule in Ireland.
