Croppies Acre Memorial stands on Wolfe Tone Quay as a green breath beside Collins Barracks, marking rebels who died during the 1798 Rebellion. They were called Croppies because their short hair copied French revolutionaries, while the place was once feared as Croppies' Hole. Whether bones still lie beneath the grass or the river took them is no longer certain, but the memorial keeps their name out of forgetting.
