Crockaunduff Grave Yard holds displaced stones on a woodland esker slope in County Galway, waiting for people to remember what they marked. Livestock trampled the area and quarrying threatened the slope beside it, reducing ancient patience to a racing knife. The dead may have chosen that ridge because sunlight strikes it all afternoon, forcing the living to see shadow and shape instead of forgetting them.

On the S-facing slope of an esker ridge, in woodland. A number of irregularly shaped loose stones lying on the ground may be displaced grave-markers; only one example was in-situ. No enclosing element was noted. The area had been damaged by livestock and was threatened by quarrying immediately to the S (pers. comm. V. Trodd).
