CRANNOG (O.S. memoir site, unlocated) in Montiaghs

CRANNOG (O.S. memoir site, unlocated)

What is recorded here

Crannog is a lost lake dwelling in Montiaghs, County Antrim, preserved only in a map memo rather than a visible mound. That absence does not diminish it; it invites imagination. A family may have stood on wooden planks above black water, listening for swans or danger. The lake kept their shape longer than memory did.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CRANNOG (O.S. memoir site, unlocated). Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
