What is recorded here
Knockanroe is an unlocated crannog in Montiaghs, County Antrim, preserved only through an Ordnance Survey memoir rather than a visible ruin. That absence makes the place harder to forget because the mind completes what the land withholds. It may have been a small wooden island, a flooded farm, or a marker for a family that stopped repeating its own name.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CRANNOG: KNOCKANROE (O.S. memoir site, unlocated). Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
