Crannog in Silvergrove

Crannog

What is recorded here

Crannog in Silvergrove is an artificial island in County Clare, Ireland, built by people who refused to leave the land when water rose. They stacked stone, wood and soil until the lake gave back a room large enough for life. The water never stopped moving around it, but they lived there anyway.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
