Crannog in Lough Melvin is a phantom island, remembered only in a passing mention rather than a visible mound. That absence is not a failure of imagination; it is a reminder that water reclaims what it wants. Aghaderrard East still faces the lough, but the crannog has dissolved into legend.

There is a reference (Faughnan c. 1943) to a crannog or island in Lough Melvin c. 100m off the shore at Aghaderrard East. No crannog is known in this area. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 17 December, 2015
