What is recorded here

Kilconny is named for a crannog, an artificial island built in water. That much is clear. What is missing is the life that shaped it: the reeds removed, the soil carried, the house raised, the door kept watchful against the lake. A crannog is not a dot on a map. It is a decision made repeated until the water itself obeyed.
