Crannog in Drumcaw (dartree By.)

Located in a poorly drained valley between drumlins. Drumcaw Lough is represented as an oval lake (max. dims c. 250m WNW-ESE; c. 110m NNE-SSW) on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map with the crannog represented as an island close to the NE shore, but the lake would have extended further to the ESE (max. dim. c. 650m WNW-ESE). The lake is now a marshy pasture and the crannog is visible as an oval grass-covered rise (dims 15m N-S; 10m E-W; H 0.5m) with stone and charcoal in the matrix.
