What is recorded here

Crannog in Cloone is a small subrectangular tree-and-bush-covered island in Lough Gowna, about fifty metres from the shore. It is the kind of place where people may have built rooms, stored butter or hidden children during storms. The lake still keeps its edges sharp and the island dark beneath leaf and branch. What is certain is that it is small, old enough to be forgotten by maps, and close enough to touch from a boat.
