Two low hillocks in Coolacrease, County Offaly, mark vanished lake dwellings, one with a stone wall and the other with a stake palisade. They sit beneath the sandstone slope like forgotten rooms dropped back into the earth.

Unlocated crannogs within the townland of Coolacrease that is mentioned by Feehan as 'If you stand on the ridge in front of Coolacrease House and look north to the ground at the foot of the sandstone slope you may notice two low hillocks rising out of the flat land. There is fairly convincing evidence that these are the sites of two crannogs, lake dwellings, one formerly surrounded by a circular stone wall, the other surrounded by a palisade of stakes. Fragments of what may have been a togher (OF032-0017) can be traced through the fields here, and fragments of walls, house sites and other indications suggest that the old village of Cadamstown extended this far north' (Feehan 1979, 143).
