Court tomb

What is recorded here

Court tomb in Ballygilgan is a court tomb in Ballygilgan, County Sligo, Ireland. Seán Ó Nualláin identified its stones in his County Sligo survey, and a 2014 inspection confirmed they still stand in the conifer-planted area. The right-angled base of wall on his plan has disappeared, but the main tomb stones remain where he recorded them.
See linked document with details from Seán Ó Nualláin, Survey of the Megalithic Tombs of Ireland. Volume V. County Sligo. (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1989) The monument was inspected in 2014. This area was replanted with conifers c. 2001-2. All of the stones identified by Ó Nualláin remain in situ though the right-angled 'base of wall' depicted on his plan (Fig. 16) in the probable court area is no longer visible.
