House shown on Down Survey (1655-6) (1655-6) barony map in northern portion of Ballenakilly townland, with mill to NE (15230). Exact location of house not known, but somewhere in vicinity of Newtown House, which is shown on 1842 OS 6-inch map but no longer survives. According to landowner, it was 3-storey, had a ballroom, and was built in 1749 as a hunting lodge. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
