What is recorded here
The counterfort is a small ring of raised earth, not a grand castle. It sits in open ground, doing nothing but holding its shape against rain and time. That quiet resistance is the whole story. A rath needs no gate, guard or name to be real. It only needs to remain visible when every other human mark has faded.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as COUNTERSCARP RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
