Half-hidden in a field bank and hedge on a drumlin ridge in County Meath, Cormeen Fort is a broad grass ring where a forgotten entrance may still hide beneath the turf. Its earthen edge rises no higher than a knee in places, yet it marks a complete circle large enough for houses, herds or ceremony. The fort has lost its name in ordinary use, but the shape remains patient on the hill, waiting for someone to walk its hidden gate.

Located towards the top of the spine of the SE-facing slope of a NW-SE drumlin ridge, it is described as ‘Cormeen Fort’ in gothic lettering on the OS 6-inch maps. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 42m N-S; 39m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (at N: Wth of base 5.3m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 1m) and hedge NW-NE, which morphs into a field bank SW-NW and is reduced to a scarp (at S: Wth 2m; H 1.1m) and hedge elsewhere. There are slight traces of an external fosse (Wth of base 1.8m; ext. D 0.3m) SW-NW, and a berm (Wth 1.5m) separates the base of the scarp from an outer field bank (Wth of base 2.5m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 1.3m) ESE-S. The original entrance is not identified.
