Clochan in Knockane (clanmaurice By.)

Clochan

What is recorded here

Clochan in Knockane is a ringfort in County Kerry containing a series of beehive huts. The small stone chambers still stand inside the earthwork, suggesting people lived there when huts were built quickly and roofs depended on rain. The name Clochan fits the shape and purpose of the place.
Toal (1995, no. 820) records a 'series of beehive huts' in the interior of this ringfort (KE014-059----). Compiled by: Paul Walsh Date of upload: 3 August 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
