What is recorded here
Marian chants still echo through the grassy hollow where stone and memory entangle. Cistercian women may have tended gardens, copied books, or simply listened for God in rain. The church gave them discipline; they gave the church devotion. Mary watched over both. What is missing is not emptiness. It is invitation. The nunnery waits for imagination to complete what history left unfinished.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CISTERCIAN NUNNERY: NUNNERY OF THE BLESSED MARY. Recorded period: MEDIEVAL; MED/L.MED. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
Cistercian nunnery, medieval period. The site is historically significant as a religious foundation associated with the Cistercian order in Ireland.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
