Cist in Castlehyde East

A rectangular cist, orientated E-W, was uncovered in 2003 during archaeological monitoring of a sewage scheme. The cist was stone-lined and divided into two compartments by a narrow upright stone, the whole being covered by a single large capstone. Two intact food vessels were found in an upright position in the W compartment and the fragmented remains of a pygmy cup were found against the dividing slab of the E compartment.
