According to local information, 'compartmented cist' found in sandpit in mid-late 1920s. A pit was divided into two by a central slab and an 'inverted urn' was found in each of the pits. (pers comm. Margaret McCarthy, Dept of Archaeology, UCC) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). A compartmented cist, likely dating to the Neolithic or early Bronze Age, used for multiple burials. Its design and finds, including inverted urns, reflect early funerary practices in the region.
