Cilgerran Castle

Cilgerran Castle was built by the de Harcourt family in the late 12th or early 13th century and later held by the powerful Lords of Cilgerran, a key family in the administration of the Welsh Marches. It is important as a strategic medieval stronghold and one of the few Welsh castles to have belonged to a native Welsh lord, William de Braose.
