What is recorded here

Templesque’s ancient parish church stands forgotten beneath a slight rise in County Cork. The building had already fallen into ruin by 1615, yet it still marked the spiritual heart of the community. Maps later reduced it to a ghost, first showing ruins and finally admitting only that a church had existed there. What remains is not stone but memory, buried under grass and time.

In graveyard (CO063-031001-). Rectangular church labelled 'in ruins' depicted in NW quadrant of graveyard on 1842 OS 6-inch map, but marked 'site of' on 1904 OS 6-inch map; slight rise now marks site. This was ancient parish church of Templesque, in ruins by 1615 (Brady 1863, vol. 1, 351). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
