What is recorded here

A chapel was recorded in the 1940s in a field called 'Páirc an tSéipéil [field of the church]' and 'near by' the children's burial ground (KE068-004001-) (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry). There are no visible remains of any church in the field surrounding the children's burial ground which, according to local information, is known as 'Páirc an tSéipéil'. The precise location of the church is not known. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 31 January 2011

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
