Church (in Ruins)

In a graveyard (KE093-115002-), on the S side of a road c. 1km NE of Kenmare town. A roofless rectangular Church of Ireland church (ext. 17.75m E-W; 7.5m N-S) built of of random rubble, with render surviving at the W end. It is lit by four pointed windows in the S wall and a large pointed window in the E wall. There is a three-storey tower (ext. 3.8m N-S; 2.85m E-W) at the W end with a pointed door in its S wall; internally the ground floor and first floor are roughly circular in plan. The parapet has stepped crenellations, surmounted by pinnacles, at the corners. A limestone plaque on the exterior of the S wall of the tower records that the church was rebuilt in 1814.
