This record refers to a church mentioned as follows in the 1838 OS Letters: ‘In the townland of Killeen…exists a small church, which seems to have been dedicated to the great Saint Tiernaun-Erew as his holy well –Tober Tighearnáin [MA038-094----], lies near its site.’ (O’Flanagan 1927, 98 (49)). The exact location of the church is unknown. A rath (MA038-089001-), enclosing a children's burial ground (MA038-089002-), is located close to the S boundary of the townland, c. 900m W of the holy well.
