Church in Kilboy

Situated on a gentle NW-facing slope. Traditionally the site of Kilboy church, human bones in large quantities were reputed to have been found here in the 18th century (O'Flanagan 1928, 127). Ronan (1928, 50) mentions a church called Cill Buidhe ('Yellow Church') which stood on 'an ancient rath'. Not visible at ground level. The site is within a circular enclosure (diam. 30m) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.6-2m) with external drystone facing on the S side where the bank forms part of the lane. There are no indications of an external fosse or internal features.
