What is recorded here
Romanesque doorway (WI025-012005-) of uncertain provenance now and placed in the Protestant parish church in Wicklow town. The Urban Survey recorded a tradition that the doorway, 'is said to have been brought from Old Kilcullen' while the Wicklow Inventory (830) records that the the doorway comes from Glebe townland about a mile to the NW (WI025-011003-) and was removed from the church site here (WI025-011001-) and placed in the Protestant parish church in Wicklow town. It is more likely that this doorway comes from a Romanesque church that may be located underneath the footprint of present C of I church in Wicklow town (pers. comm. Chris Corlett).
