Church in Bannow Island

Situated on a low hill in a field known as the ‘church field’ SE of the NE-SW natural valley (Wth of top c. 80-100m) on Bannow Island that separates it from the motte (WX045-042----). The church was known in the mid-19th century (Tuomey 1850, 203-04). Two fragments of the grass-covered wall foundations of a structure (ext. dims. c. 13m NE-SW; c. 11m NW-SE) forming the W and E angles are visible. There is no evidence of an enclosure or of burial.
