What is recorded here

Keel field hides a children's burial ground beneath thick scrub on a steep south-facing slope in County Cork. The disused site has retreated from memory, its markers lost to overgrowth and time. What remains is a buried threshold, where the land keeps small lives hidden from adult eyes.
In scrub on steep S-facing slope. Locally known as "keel field". Site inaccessible due to heavy overgrowth. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
