What is recorded here

Ten unworked stones mark child graves inside a small rectangular border on a Galway hill now scarred by quarrying. The children may have belonged to a nearby farm, a passing family, or a village whose name has vanished. They are still children, and the stones still hold the shape of the place they occupied.

On a hummock which has been quarried away at NE. This children's burial ground is defined by an unenclosed rectangular area (4m N-S; 3m E-W) within which ten unworked set stones mark graves. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 29 August 2019

A Neolithic children's burial ground; its presence indicates early ritual practices and community organization in an otherwise unenclosed setting.
