Children's burial ground in Tawnaghbeg

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

No boy or girl should run unwatched past the broken ring of stones at Tawnaghbeg. The earth inside kept child burials, but time has smoothed every marker into grass. What is missing is not forgetfulness; it is the kind of privacy children deserve even after death.
In a possible cashel (MA064-002001-). According to Aldridge (1969) the interior of this enclosure was used as children’s burial ground. There are now no traces of graves at ground surface. Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 26 June 2020
