Children's burial ground in Shankoagh is a children's burial ground in Shankoagh, County Roscommon, Ireland. The oval grass-covered mound sits on a SE-facing slope near the River Suck and reaches 0.6m high. A field wall cuts its NW edge, while an enclosure and earthwork appear across the valley. Local tradition identifies the unmarked site as a children's burial ground.
On a SE-facing slope of a NW-SE section of River Suck valley with the river c. 60m to the NE. This is an oval grass-covered mound (dims 9m NW-SE; 4m NE-SW; max. H 0.6m) which is truncated at NW by a field wall. There are no visible grave-markers, but it is known locally as a children's burial ground. Enclosure (RO027-084----) is c. 210m to the NW, and earthwork (RO027-085----) is c. 130m to the NNW, on the other side of the river. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
