Children's burial ground in Colesgrove

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Colesgrove is named for a cashel still believed to hold children, though no stone or marker proves the claim. That gap between fact and memory is the interesting part. A village may have lost young lives, invented a story to carry them, or repeated a warning until it became identity. The name still performs the belief.
According to local information, the cashel (GA104-120----) is traditionally believed to be a children's burial ground. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 29 November 2017
