Lisheeneenaun, which means children's enclosure, hints that young lives were once laid to rest beside the rath in County Galway. The name survives on old maps even though no grave markers or pits remain visible for anyone to point at today. What is certain is the meaning locked inside the words, and what is lost is the shape of the children and the hands that buried them.

The rath (GA113-079----) is named 'Lisheeneenaun' on the OS 6-inch maps. The 'Lisheen' element of the name suggests that a children's burial ground may be associated with it.
