Children's burial ground in Ballinaboy

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Children's bones emerged near a lost church in Ballinaboy around 1912, marking the slope as a place where young lives ended before records or rituals could be recovered. The site may have served as a burial ground for children, suggesting the community set aside even its smallest members with care. What is missing is not emptiness; it is the part of history that resistance, forgetfulness or time removed.
Towards the bottom of a S-facing slope. Bones were discovered c. 1912 on the site of a church (RO040-014001-), and it is locally thought to be a childrens burial ground (Ryan 1997, 220-1). Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
