Children's burial ground in Arraghan

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Children's deaths may have filled the cashel in Arraghan, though no bones remain visible to prove the loss. The story gives the empty stone a heartbeat, imagining small bodies hidden beneath soil that time has since erased.
Towards the bottom of a SE-facing slope. There is a tradition of use of the interior of cashel (RO021-006001-) as a childrens burial ground (RO021-006002-) (Gannon 1972) but there is no evidence of burial. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
