Children's burial ground in Ardkeenan

A triangular enclosure, eighteen metres east to west and ten north to south, marks the children's burial ground inside the cashel at Ardkeenan. Stone walls at the north and west, joined by the inner cashel face at the southeast, still outline the small dead chamber on its slight rise. The geometry is precise enough to suggest the living built a boundary they believed would hold, while the missing south and east edges remind us that time has already taken much of what they tried to keep separate.
