Charcoal-making site in Inchinlough

In an oak wood, on a steep NE-facing slope, near the SE corner of Lough Inchiquin. A circular area (diam. 7m) defined by a gently scarped bank N-E and SSE-WNW, by a grass-covered bank of earth with chunks of charcoal WNW-N and E-SSE. The scarped bank is faced with stone at SE. The SE portion of the interior is raised (H 1m) to compensate for the hillslope and the NW portion is cut (D 0.5m) into the upslope. The interior is covered with forest debris.
